I’m Marius, and I write every page on Best Budget Headphones. I’m an audio enthusiast, and I’ve tried a lot of headphones over the years. I started this site for one reason: most people asking “which headphones should I buy?” have $50 to $150 to spend, and most headphone coverage chases $400 flagships.

So this site covers over-ear and on-ear headphones for people who want the most for their money. I tell you which pair I’d buy, which I’d skip, and when spending more earns its keep.

What I cover

  • Budget over-ear and on-ear headphones, mostly wireless and mostly with noise cancelling, from roughly $40 to $200.
  • Upgrade comparisons. Sometimes a $250 Bose or Sennheiser on sale is the smarter buy. I compare those against the budget favorites, and I label them as upgrades, not budget picks.
  • US prices and Amazon US listings for now. I note when a model is hard to find or sold under another name elsewhere.

I don’t cover earbuds, speakers or soundbars here. Staying narrow keeps the advice sharp.

How I judge a pair of headphones

I’ve worn a lot of headphones, and I don’t trust any single source, my own ears included. Every verdict on this site gets checked four ways:

Spec sheets, read skeptically

Battery hours and noise-cancelling decibels on the box are claims. I note which ones are claims and which have been proven.

Lab measurements

Independent battery runtime, noise isolation, frequency response and mic results, mostly from RTINGS. Numbers settle arguments that opinions can’t.

Long-term owner feedback

Hinges that crack at month ten and pads that peel at month six never show up in a launch review. I look for the same problem from many owners, not one angry post.

The right generation at the right price

I match every spec to the exact model and generation, and check the real US price on the day I publish. A great pair at the wrong price is a bad buy.

When I’ve spent real time with a pair, the review shows a “My hands-on notes” box with what I found and how long I used it.

How I make money

Buy buttons on this site go to retailers, mostly Amazon. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. Brands don’t pay for placement, and they don’t see pages before you do. If a cheaper pair does the job, I’ll send you to the cheaper pair. Full details on the affiliate disclosure page.

Prices and updates

Headphone prices swing every week. I show typical price ranges with the date I checked, not live prices, and I revisit pages when prices, firmware or the lineup change. The “Updated” date at the top of each page tells you when I last went through it.

Spotted a mistake?

If a spec is wrong or a model has been replaced, I want to know. Corrections make every page better for the next reader.
